This month we will be reading and discussing "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith. Through six turbulent months of 1934, 17-year-old Cassandra Mortmain keeps a journal, filling three notebooks with sharply funny yet poignant entries about her home, a ruined Suffolk castle, and her eccentric and penniless family. By the time the last diary shuts, there have been great changes in the Mortmain household, not the least of which is that Cassandra is deeply, hopelessly, in love.
"I Capture the Castle" is available through our catalog, as an abridged eAudiobook through Hoopla, and as an eBook and a radio drama through Cloudlibrary. Please visit our front desk or call 941-861-1744 to reserve a copy of the book.
We will be meeting in-person in the Shannon Staub Library Conference Room, as well as virtually on Zoom. Register online to receive the log-in information for the Zoom session.
