The Friends of the Betty J. Johnson North Sarasota Library, in partnership with the African American Cultural Resource Center and the Sarasota African American Cultural Coalition present a Women's History Month event!

Join us as Cheryl Colman author of "Before the Land Run: The historic all Black towns of Oklahoma", shares the rich and important history that many history books have left out.

Discover the hidden history of the black towns, often overlooked in mainstream narratives. Cheryl shed light on the rich heritage of these communities, which have been absent from history books for generations.  Learn about the enduring legacy of these towns, many of which still thrive today but remain unrecognized for their historical significance. Cheryl's presentation promises to enlighten and inspire, offering a fresh perspective on the vibrant tapestry of American history.

Don't miss this opportunity to delve into a lesser-known chapter of our past and celebrate the resilience and contributions of these remarkable communities.
