The Sarasota Music Archive presents a four part series featuring top pianists performing and discussing their piano careers.

To provide social distancing, registration for these event has been limited to 50 attendees. Registration will open 2 weeks prior to each date.  Masks will be required.

9/29/2021 The Operatic Pianist
Susan Versage, formerly with the New York City Opera and Jesse Martins, currently associated with the Sarasota Opera, will provide insight into the life of a pianist in an opera company.  Anecdotes plus performances will add up to a greater appreciation of the inner workings of the opera world.

10/13/2021 The Popular and Jazz Pianist
Don Bryn, head of the piano department at the State College of Florida, and Eddie Tobin, a local lounge lizard legend, music director, pianist, conductor and arranger for Engelbert Humperdinck for over 7 years,  will perform and talk about the life of a commercial pianist.

10/27/2021 The Piano as Pedagogue
Tom Purviance, concert pianist and pedagogue, offers insight into the world of teaching the adult piano student.


11/10/2021 The Pianist as Soloist and Chamber Musician
Joseph Holt and Gail Berenson, Ohio University Professor Emerita of Piano and past president of Music Teachers National Association, will perform duets on the piano and solo repertoire.  They will discuss the various career opportunities that exist for pianists as soloists and chamber musicians.
