Program Description

Details

Well known as the baseball player who integrated the modern major leagues, Jackie Robinson is all too often overlooked as the catalyst of America's civil rights movement. This presentation will cover Robinson's playing days with the Brooklyn Dodgers, his major accomplishments as an informal civil rights leader during his post-baseball career, and his continued relevance today. The presentation will also include some discussion of the sociological and historical connection between race and sports in America.
