Bike Month Film Series

On three Fridays in May, watch a movie featuring a bicycle as a character or pivotal driver of story. The audience will be invited to discuss the movie after its showing. Please call the library for titles.

On May 10, watch the first feature film shot entirely in Saudi Arabia and the first feature-length film made by a female Saudi director. The 2012 film follows a spirited 10-year-old Saudi girl on her quest to buy a green bicycle. Film is 1 hr. 37 min. and rated PG.

On May 24, watch a Chinese film with similar themes to Vittorio De Sica's classic "The Bicycle Thief." The 2001 film follows Guei who has just moved from the countryside to Beijing and landed a job as a bike messenger. Film is 1 hr. 53 min. and rated PG-13.

On May 31, enjoy a 2006 British dramatization of the life of Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree. Film is 1 hr. 43 min. and rated PG-13.
