Your facilitator/instructor/guide, Mary Schenkenberg gives an overview of this six-week class:

WRITING AND REMEMBERING:  Capture favorite memories of family and friends…places you’ve been…interesting people you’ve met, experiences of deep emotion, or humorous happenings.

We will read and discuss excerpts from successful memoir writers;  practice short writing exercises to sharpen senses and pique imaginations, and write short pieces that reflect our experiences, and insights.  Exercises will focus on concrete detail, style, and engaging all of our senses.

While I would hope each participant would end up with several finished pieces, the only requirement would be to sharpen memories, record experiences honestly and vividly, and perhaps be moved to continue memoir writing beyond this class.

Needed for class:  your favorite writing instrument:  pen and paper, laptop, etc.; photos (if you have them,) and, of course, your memories.
