Drop-in crafts from around the world!

 

Thursdays from 5-7:30 p.m.

Feb. 7: Make Valentine cards that light up or explore traditional Italian card styles.

Feb. 21: Paint the famous Russian matryoshka dolls that fit inside each other.

Feb. 28: Make marbled paper using an adapted Japanese suminagashi technique.

Mar. 7: Sew a Swedish Dala horse or other simple felt friends.

Mar. 14: Explore patterns with African fabric painting from Ghana.  Limited to the first 20 participants.

Mar. 21: Up-cycle trash into treasure inspired by artistic methods from Kenya.  Limited to the first 20 participants.

Mar. 28: Paint a natural scene using French Impressionist or Pointillism styles.

Apr. 4: Sculpt Mexican maracas using papier-mâché.

Apr. 11: Paint maracas you made the previous week or one made by library staff.

 

Saturdays from 2-4 p.m.

Jan. 12: Make marbled paper using an adapted Japanese suminagashi technique.

Feb. 9: Sew a pouch made from Chinese patterned silky fabrics.

Mar. 9: Construct and decorate a lantern with styles from Indian architecture.

Apr. 13: Craft colorful paper flowers with techniques from all around the world.

 

These free programs are recommended for ages 6 to 106; under 8 may require some assistance from an adult.
