Young Adult Classics Club of Sarasota

This group is dedicated to young adults, aged 19 to 35, who wish to read, discuss and appreciate the great classics of western literature.

Why the classics? Because no one becomes great by reading mediocrity, and the books that we call "classics" today are so named because they've managed to survive the harshest of critics: Time; they possess themes and characters that capture a key aspect of the human condition and thus continue to be read to this day.

For the purposes of this group, the classics will include the most famous works of western canon from the earliest epic poems of The Iliad and The Odyssey down to the great novels of the mid-twentieth century (the exact cut out date is yet to be determined).

So, if you happen to be a young adult who’s been wanting to delve into the classics but never found the motivation, then hopefully this group will provide that little push you've been looking for.
