7/16 Pete Carney Quintet, "Redline Grooves: Chicago Jazz"
Join us in welcoming Jazz educator and performer extraordinaire Pete Carney for a soulful jazz journey through the streets of Chicago from its formative roots to today.
About Pete Carney: Prior to joining State College of Florida as the Director of Jazz Studies, Chicago saxophonist Pete Carney headlined jazz festivals around the world including Aberdeen Scotland, Rochester, Milwaukee, Chicago, Cognac, Clearwater, New Orleans, Helsinki, and others. His original music has been promoted NPR, and the BBC who declared it, "very funky indeed sir." As a lecturer/performer on Jazz he has given a TED talk, and performed a jazz concert of Radiohead for Jazz St. Louis, with musicians from the St. Louis Symphony. He has performed with Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, Nestor Torres, Milt Jackson, Curtis Fuller, and Louie Belson.
