Lucy H. Hedrick's debut novel "Six Weeks in Reno" tells the story of the little-known "Divorce Colony" in Reno, Nevada, during the Great Depression. In most major cities, there were bread lines serving the unemployed, but Reno, NV, was booming, thanks to the "six-weekers." Hedrick's book follows the journey of one woman as she navigates the complexities of divorce in a time when it was still taboo. Listen to the author discuss her story and the research that went into bringing 1930s Nevada to life.
Lucy H. Hedrick is the author of five works of nonfiction. Born in Chicago, Lucy attended Goucher College in Maryland, where she majored in music history and sang in the glee club. She has roamed the Eastern Seaboard ever since. Marriage brought Lucy to Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Shortly thereafter Lucy gave birth to her son, Tod. Today, Lucy lives in Sarasota, Florida, where she devotes herself to writing women’s fiction. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Sisters in Crime—Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, the Historical Fiction Society, and Sarasota Fiction Writers.
