Learn a monoline style of lettering.  Monoline is a lettering style that is done with regular pens, pencils, or markers.  The line weight is consistent, and it does not have thick and thin lines.  No special tools are required.  Your own personal lettering finds its way into the lettering, making the work your own individual style.  Self-determination and enjoyment is the name of the game.
