In this lecture series, we'll sample such diverse singers as Jolson, Cantor, Armstrong, MacDonald, Merman, Holiday, Waters, Sinatra, Charles, Garland, Robeson, Durbin, along with big band vocalists and singing groups, listening to their interpretations of the popular songs of the time. We'll also explore such standards as DINAH, BLUE SKIES, I GOT RHYTHM, STARDUST, and OLD MAN RIVER, listening to how various artists treated them. Lots of recordings and film clips to get your toes tapping.
