A Florida History Lecture Series Fall 2024 "Overcoming Obstacles" Program

Program held from 2PM - 3PM

About This Lecture

Sarasota County may never have been a theater of battle in World War II, but that didn’t stop local citizens from working hard for victory. Everyone, including women, the elderly and even young children achieved important victories of their own on the home front. Join Dr. Josh Goodman, manager of the Sarasota County History Center, for a closer look at how Sarasota County mobilized its citizens in the 1940s to help secure both their communities and the nation during this global conflict.

About This Series

Florida is widely imagined as a sunny paradise where every day is either a thrilling adventure or a relaxing vacation. Like any place, however, Florida has had tough moments requiring its people to face all sorts of challenges. This fall, join the staff of the Sarasota County History Center and special guests as we explore how Floridians navigated some of these historic episodes.
