Three part series "Musical Echoes of the Depression Era" - presented by Dick Smolens

From Bing Crosby's "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime" through Artie Shaw's "Whistle While you Work," the country's hard times were filled with some of the greatest sounds of our musical heritage. Hollywood films, radio and records, swing and the big bands, Broadway all contributed. We'll sample songs of despair and hope, along with such diverse talents as:  Busby Berkeley, Kate Smith, Louis Armstrong,  Shirley Temple,  Betty Boop, Jimmy Durante, and many others. Travel back to a time when music meant so much to our troubled country and enjoy these musical treats.

Join Us! for this three part music series presented by Dick Smolens featuring vintage recordings and film clips. Registration required for each of the three sessions.
