Please join us for a special presentation series from Baila Miller on the Artistic Rivals that rocked the art world!
Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was a French post-Impressionist artist. Gauguin is recognized for his experimental use of color and style that were distinctly different from Impressionism. Towards the end of his life he spent ten years in French Polynesia where he made his most famous work. His paintings lovingly depict the people and the landscapes from that region.
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work had far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. His output includes portraits, still life, landscapes, and the French country side. His short and agonized life was expressed in his work. His spontaneous use of vivid colors, broad brushstrokes, and emotive subject matter made his work unique and recognizable the world over.
