Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a French artist and sculptor who is known for his use of dramatic color and his fluid, flat surfaces. In the 20th century, Pablo Picasso and Matisse became leading figures in the visual arts. Their ideas were adapted to collage, paper cutouts, ceramics, costuming, and stage design.
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a Spanish-born painter and sculptor who lived in France for most of his life. Picasso revolutionized the Art World, initially with his Cubist Works, and later, with his wide variety of ever changing styles. His experimentation with different theories, techniques, and ideas changed the way Art, Music, Literature, and Architecture would be interpreted forever after.
