Program Description

Sarasota County Libraries & Historical Resources selected Kate Moore's "The Radium Girls" for their 2020 selection. This riveting true story of America’s “shining girls”, tells the story of young women employed as dial painters in the 1920s using the new miracle substance, “Radium”. These young women became ill and died, and went on to fight the employers’ dastardly and immoral cover-up.
Paying homage to these brave young women whose legal fight made it safer for others in the workplace, Jewelry Design Expert Judy Levine gives tips on creating beautiful jewelry using various elements of old watches.
