Details

Write Here! is a series of writing workshops sponsored by the Selby Public Library and hosted by Dr. Emily Carr.  These workshops are open to the public, are designed for writers of all levels and genres, and provide an opportunity for writers to practice their craft.  Workshops offer participants an opportunity to explore a new genre, to practice a specific writing skill, to develop a sustainable writing practice, and to connect with other writers in the local area.

Together, we'll talk about strategies for constructing paths out of our dreams and hopes, out of our fears.  We'll share our visions of the future, and explore tools for shaping those visions on the page, as well as ways language can help us to bring about change in the deepest change in the deepest sense, which starts with our deepest feelings.

This workshop is for writers, for folks who don't yet identify as writers, and for folks who aren't sure if they want to identify as writers.  Participants will leave with tools they can use in their everyday lives to nourish their endeavors, whether those endeavors happen on or off the page.

Write Here! meets monthly for two hours on a drop-in basis; participants are not required to commit to coming to every workshop.

Dr. Emily Carr is the Assistant Professor of Creating Writing at New College of Florida.
