Local noted archaeologist, Maranda A. Kles, PhD., discusses the women who shaped the archaeology of Sarasota County from Prehistoric to the Present. She will explore the populations who lived here before European contact and some notable women who helped preserve and understand that history in our county. 

This program is sponsored by the Osprey Public Library at Historic Spanish Point, an important archaeological site in Sarasota County. Dr. Kles will discuss the contribution of anthropologist Adelaide K. Bullen to the understanding of the pre-contact inhabitants of the area.

Maranda Kles is a Registered Professional Archaeologist with over 10 years of experience in prehistoric archaeology and physical anthropology specializing in Southeastern archaeology and bioarcheology. Dr. Kles is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Florida Anthropological Society, and the Southeastern Archaeological Conference. She is currently a Director on the board for the Florida Archaeological Council.
