In Victorian London, the homes of the upper and middle class exist in close proximity to areas of unbelievable poverty and filth.  Rich and poor alike are thrown together in the crowded streets.  It is unbearably hot by the fire, and numbingly cold away from it.  At night, the major streets are lit with feeble gas lamps.  Side and secondary streets may not be lit at all, and lamp bearers are hired to guide the traveler to his destination.  Inside, a candle or oil lamp struggles against the darkness, and blacken the ceilings.

Please join actress and storyteller Nan Colton as she portrays Isabella Snodgrass, a fictitious Victorian lady, who will discuss topics of the time, including the current newspaper headlines, the menu, fashionable clothing, the transportation options for a Londoner, the latest novels, the art and theatre scene, and the aspirations of a lady.

Nan Colton is a playwright, director, storyteller, actress and arts educator who has performed and lectured professionally on stages throughout South Africa, Great Britain and the United States. She brings to life passionate, live portraits of remarkable women, and unforgettable tales of fact and fiction.
