Program Description
In the days before television and social media, radio was a vital method of communication, especially for advertising. Promoters used radio “jingles” and longer tunes to entice listeners to buy certain products or even consider visiting certain places. Sarasota County’s earliest promoters wrote or commissioned a variety of songs to sell our region as the perfect place to visit or live.
Join Meg Lepak of the Sarasota County History Center and Jesse Martins from the Sarasota Opera and sing along as we explore the history of this unique form of advertising! Registration required.
