Willem de Kooning VS Jackson Pollock
Dutch painter Willem de Kooning (1904-1997) became part of the New York School where he perfected his “Action Painting” style. He struggled for decades to make a name for himself. He was frustrated by the success that Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) garnered in the Abstract Expressionist Movement. The reality was that America became The Art Capital of the world in 1937, as such critics and patrons had to put forward a native born son and crown him King.
