A Florida History Lecture Series Winter 2025 "Unsolved Histories" Program
Program held from 2PM - 3PM
About This Lecture
On April 16, 1969, the iconic Sarasota artist Ben Stahl woke to a phone call relaying news that to this day sounds unbelievable - 15 of his most famous paintings were stolen from the Museum of the Cross without a trace. Join Leah Lapszynski as we journey through Stahl’s larger-than-life history and dive deep into the heist that shocked not only Sarasota, but the art community nationwide.
About This Series
Sometimes the most fascinating stories from the past are the ones where we don’t (yet) know all the answers! Join the staff of the Sarasota County History Center and special guests this winter as we reach back into our files for some of our region’s most interesting mysteries, scandals, and unexplained phenomena.
