Travelogue with Jane Mahler: Madagascar

Primary tabs

Program Description

Come along for a magical journey through the beaches and rain forests of Madagascar, also called the 8th continent! Best known for its lemurs (primitive relatives of monkeys, apes, and humans), colorful chameleons, and towering baobab trees, the Republic of Madagascar is home to some of the world's most unique flora and fauna.  Almost all of Madagascar's reptile and amphibian species, half of its birds, and all of its lemurs are endemic to the island; meaning they can be found nowhere else on earth. Jane Mahler will recount her experiences with stunning scenery, close proximity to beautiful and engaging wildlife, and cultural exchanges with local people, who were interested in sharing their way of life.  She'll also share a visit to a remote location only accessible by a 1 ½-hour charter plane and 1 ½-3 hour boat ride.

First come, first seated - no registration required.
