Program Description

Details

For many in Sarasota, the Rosemary District may seem like a new addition to the community. However, this area has a long history and was once known as Overtown – Sarasota’s earliest black community.
Join Historical Resources’ Collections Curator, Lindsay Ogles, as she dives into some of the history of Overtown, its place in history, and its loss and replacement by today’s Rosemary District. See how new technology can help us to re-imagine Overtown and learn more about this lost community!

Presented as part of the Sarasota County One Book and Centennial programming.
