Author Cooper Levey-Baker talks about his process and inspiration.

Setting is so much more than just the place in which a story's characters live and act. Handled well, setting can deepen a story's mood and ambiance, illuminate themes and ideas, and even help drive the plot. In this workshop, author Cooper Levey-Baker will discuss examples of novels and stories in which the setting is every bit as vital as the characters and the story, and offer practical tips on how writers can improve the creation of setting in their own work.

Cooper Levey-Baker is a writer and journalist whose acclaimed debut novel Dead Fish Wind was published in 2022. His journalism has won multiple awards from the Florida Magazine Association and the Florida Society for Professional Journalism. He is currently the editor in chief of Sarasota Magazine.
