As a part of Bookstore 1's PoetryLife series, Bookstore 1 and Selby Public Library present poet and memoirist Richard Blanco. Selected by President Obama as the fifth inaugural poet in U.S. History, Richard Blanco is the youngest, first Latino, immigrant, and gay person to serve in such a role. Born in Madrid to Cuban exile parents and raised in Miami, the negotiation of cultural identity characterizes his four award-winning collections of poetry. Blanco will read selections from his books of poetry and discuss his life as a poet. This event is free and open to the public.
