The Brown Pelican is the largest native bird in Florida but is the smallest by far of the eight pelican species worldwide. We will explore what qualifies a bird as a pelican, how and when they evolved and what role pelicans have played in various cultures. We will also examine threats to pelicans, past and present, and we will learn ways to keep these amazing creatures safe.
