Kirsten Hines is a Coconut Grove, Florida-based writer, wildlife photographer, and conservationist. Anchored by her master’s degree in biology and experience as an environmental educator, her writing and photography highlight nature and wildlife around the world. Her aim is to inspire conservation action through her personalized story-telling highlighted by her photography. She specifically hopes to inspire the re-greening of the developed landscape and encourage natural connectivity among private lands and public spaces. She has authored or co-authored seven books, the latest being Wild Florida: An Animal Odyssey. Others include Attracting Birds to South Florida Gardens, Birds of Fairchild, and Key Biscayne (all Florida Author and Publisher Association President’s Book Award winners), and a three-book series on Florida’s national parks, as well as the forthcoming Birds of Florida: A Photographic Guide and Recovering Caribbean Nature. In addition to illustrating her writing, Kirsten’s images have been featured in numerous photography showcases and exhibitions, public art programs, and magazines. She lectures widely on wildlife, conservation, naturalistic gardening, leads wildlife photography field trips, and provides photography workshops. She is active in not-for-profit work including co-founding Phoebes Birding to connect women through nature and serving on the board and as Conservation Chair of Audubon Florida.
