Sarasota County Public Library System presents the Living Library program, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” That’s especially true if the book is a person! The Living Library lets people borrow “interactive books”- people who have volunteered to tell their stories.

Former Sarasota County Commissioner and library namesake, Shannon Staub, will be participating in our "people check-out" program. After 14 years as Sarasota County Commissioner, Shannon retired in December, 2010. Her passion for libraries and youth continued with volunteer activities of Founding President of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County and Chair of the Positive Youth Development Council. With the naming of the library on the Suncoast Technical College in North Port in her honor, Shannon feels truly blessed and overwhelmingly appreciative.

Engage in conversation for up to 20 minutes with Shannon. Please register at the Reference Desk for a 20 minute slot to converse with Shannon Staub.
