A OBOC (One Book One Community)

Sarasota County’s Gilded Age Connections

Presented by Dr. Josh Goodman—Manager, Sarasota History Center

America’s Gilded Age was a fast-paced era of growth and change at the end of the 1800s. Industrialization and new technology made it possible for people like Henry Flagler, John D. Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan to make huge fortunes, hence the “gilded” part. Sarasota was barely on the map when the Gilded Age began, and yet the entire county’s destiny was profoundly shaped by events and personalities from this exciting period.  Join Dr. Josh Goodman, manager of the Sarasota County History Center, for a deeper look into this fascinating chapter in our local and regional history.

Limited Seating. Registration Required.
