Program Description

Join Sarasota County History Center manager Dr. Josh Goodman as he presents archival materials featuring AB Edwards and Sarasota's early days.  

Arthur Britton Edwards, born in 1874, was Sarasota's first true native-born mayor.  In office from 1914 to 1920, Edwards, helped found the Chamber of Commerce, built the Edwards Theatre (now the Sarasota Opera House), and opened the town’s first real estate and insurance businesses.
