Join Dr. Samuel Wheeler, State Historian in Illinois history, to learn about the controversial life of Mary Todd Lincoln and the role she played in her husband's rise to prominence.

He specializes in the history of the Prairie State, the Civil War Era and the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. He serves as the Director of Research at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois, where he oversees historical content development in the museum, as well as the library’s Oral History program, the Papers of Abraham Lincoln documentary editing project and the annual Conference on Illinois History.
