Program Description

Details

America's popular music owes a tremendous debt to Black composers and performers. The Swingtet of vocalist Dick Smolens, tenor sax man Jim Wellen, and keyboardist Eddie Tobin  will salute some of those who have contributed so much to our enjoyment. The trio will play songs written by such composers as Duke Ellington, Thomas "Fats" Waller, and Eubie Blake, along  with songs associated with Louis Armstrong, Nat "King" Cole, Billie Holiday, and others. Join us for a swinging session of memorable music.
