Baila is presenting four lectures this season on one of the most powerful influences on western culture: Ancient Greece. This survey of courses makes clear how the Greek World became the Cradle of Western Civilization. Through the study of Greek mythology, history, literature, art, and architecture, we will see how this Ancient Civilization emerged and how it spread its ideas throughout the world.

Baila continues her lectures with this third presentation centered on sculpture and architecture. The 5th century BCE represents the Golden Age of Greece when a high point was achieved in human intellect, beauty, and the execution of ideas. The architecture of the Parthenon and the sculpture of Phidias reman a symbol of architectural and artistic refinement and perfection that is admired even today.
