Baila presents four lectures this season on one of the most powerful influences on western culture: Ancient Greece. This survey of courses makes clear how the Greek World became the Cradle of Western Civilization. Through the study of Greek mythology, history, literature, art, and architecture, we see how this Ancient Civilization emerged and how it spread its ideas throughout the world.

Baila's final lecture for the season will center on Alexander the Great and Hellenistic geography and history.

The Ancient Greeks shaped our world through their philosophy of education, beauty, and excellence in every aspect of life. They celebrated humanity with heroic attributes such as "Man is the Measure of All Things." Alexander the Great so admired their philosophy that he wanted to make the whole world Greek!
