The world knows Harriet Beecher Stowe as the internationally famous author of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
What is not so well known is that Mrs. Stowe was a resident of post-Civil War Florida and was an active promoter of the state, encouraging northerners to experience the benefits of the Florida "lifestyle."
