A little but about our guest Artist, Sandy Koolkin.

So much of the path determining our direction in life starts in our early years.  Sandy Koolkin  was born in the mountains and nature played a significant part of her development.  This deep love and connection to the beauty of her natural surroundings served as endless inspiration in her artistic endeavors.

From drawing botanicals and animals and insects as school projects, she evolved and discovered fiber art which is a style of fine art using textiles including fabric, yarn, and natural and synthetic fibers.  She turned to weaving on a four harness loom and created lovely contemporary home accessories in the form of throws and pillows and scarves.  This deep appreciation and love of color and texture inspired her to open a shop offering color-coordinated, handcrafted artisan accessories for the home.  The store expanded to include women’s apparel and jewelry which ultimately led to a career in women’s fashions.  Throughout, she has chosen art as a method to capture beautiful images and for years studied watercolor techniques under Coleen Cassidy.  During the pandemic, Koolkin added acrylics to her repertoire, expanding the creative possibilities of her work.  Studying fluid acrylic art has proven to be a fascinating and freeing art form for her.
